1st McHenry County robot-assisted knee replacement surgery performed in Huntley Hospital

Dr. John Daniels, medical director of the Hip and Knee Replacement Center at Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital, has been training with robot-assisted knee replacement surgery technology for five years.

On Wednesday, he became the first person to perform the procedure in the McHenry County area on 50-year-old Susanne McNicholas of West Dundee.

The doctor said McNicholas would be able to go home approximately four hours after her surgery ended.

The man Crystal Lake police were looking for after a reported "suspicious" incident at a school bus stop on Monday morning actually was an Uber driver looking to pick up his passenger, police said on Wednesday.

After following dozens of leads, police said they found that no crime was committed and the driver mistakenly believed the girl was his Uber fare he was scheduled to pick up in the area.

Crystal Lake police initially began investigating the incident after a child was approached by the man at 7 a.m.

 

Former Chicago cop convicted of fatally shooting wife in McHenry County

A retired Chicago police officer was found guilty on Wednesday afternoon of firing a single gunshot into his wife's neck in 2017, killing her in the kitchen of their Spring Grove home.

Following a three-day trial bench trial, which is heard without a jury, McHenry County Judge Michael Coppedge found 74-year-old Lorin Volberding guilty of two separate counts of first-degree murder.

 

No injuries in crash involving Woodstock District 200 school bus, officials say

Icy road conditions caused a car to strike a Woodstock Community Unit School District 200 bus on Wednesday morning at Lake Avenue and Cobblestone Way in Woodstock.

No injuries were reported from the crash, which happened at 8:07 a.m.

Woodstock Police Deputy Chief Ray Lanz said a Mazda 3 sedan heading south on Lake Avenue toward Cobblestone was making a right-hand turn on roads that were icy and slick because of the freezing rain.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday named two House chairmen who led President Donald Trump's impeachment inquiry as prosecutors for Trump's Senate trial.

Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, who led the probe, and Judiciary Chair Rep. Jerrold Nadler, whose committee approved the impeachment articles, as among the managers of the prosecution.
