Lake County Public Defender to retire

Lake County Public Defender Charles R. Grieshammer, will retire effective Oct. 1.Grieshammer has worked for the Lake County Public Defender's office for 35 years, beginning first as an Assistant Lake County Public Defender before being promoted to Chief Assistant Public Defender, according to a news release.

 

Painesville police seeking bank robbery suspect

Painesville police are seeking help locating a bank robbery suspect. Police say 27-year-old Ja'var D. Clarke entered the Northwest Saving Bank, 70 Richmond S., at 9:12 a.m. Aug. 13, and left shortly thereafter with an undetermined amount of money. No injuries were reported at the scene. Clarke is described as a 6-foot, 190-pound black male with brown eyes and black hair.

 

Mentor Public Library hosts author Linda Goodlin

Christian author Linda Goodlin is visiting Mentor Public Library to discuss her writing, faith and debut novel, "From across the Pond.""From across the Pond" is based on the history of Goodlin's hometown - the "coal-patch town" of Tarrs, Penn. - and the immigrants who built their lives there, according to a news release.

Willowick Police Department emergency lines are down

Emergency and non emergency phone lines are down for the Willowick Police Department at this time, according to a Facebook post by the department. Emergency (911) calls are being routed to Wickliffe and they will relay all information to the Willowick Police Department.Once phone lines have been restored, the Willowick Police Department will update their Facebook post.

Lake County's average home sale price up through first half of 2018

Through the first six months of 2018, Lake County homes are spending less time on the market and selling for a higher average price than they were during the same period last year. Lake County homes - new and existing single-family residences and condominiums/co-ops - sold through the first six month this year have gone for an average price of $163,952 up nearly five percent from the $156,291 average over the same frame in 2017, according to the regional listing service
