CHURCH HILL - Virginia Bell “Ginny” Bruner, 87, of Church Hill, went to be with the Lord on Saturday August 10, 2019, at her home in Church Hill, TN.
Virginia was born in Clinchport, VA. But was a long time resident of Kingsport. She had lived in the Church Hill area for the last 33 years. Virginia was a loving wife, mom and mamaw, her family was her greatest joy here on earth.

KINGSPORT - Sandra "Sam" Elizabeth Kennedy Quinn, 72, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, August 8, 2019.
She was born in St. Paul, VA in 1947. Sandra met and married Thomas Allen Quinn and moved to Kingsport in 1973.
She was a 1966 graduate of St. Paul High School and was a member of Fordtown Baptist Church, Kingsport.
Sandra enjoyed her flowers, reading, going to church, animals and loved spending time with her family.

BRISTOL - Rebecca Bates, 65, of Bristol, TN, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2019, at her residence after a short illness.
Arrangements will be announced later by Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services.

KINGSPORT - Clara Woods, 92, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, August 11, 2019, at her residence following a long illness.

KINGSPORT - Rick Quesenberry, 61, of Kingsport, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2019 at the residence of his daughter and son-in-law.

KINGSPORT — State and local officials got a sneak peek at the work taking place at Cloud and Charlemont apartments last week, seeing firsthand just how significant the renovations are and what will ultimately be the end result for the two properties.
The apartments are owned by the Kingsport Housing and Redevelopment Authority and are part of a project called the Midtown Redevelopment Plan that’s been in the works since 2012.

JOHNSON CITY — The East Tennessee State defense, particularly the secondary, stood out in Saturday night’s intrasquad football scrimmage at Greene Stadium.
That was no surprise to coach Randy Sanders, who has high expectations for the unit.
“They did some good things, but they should be good when you have that many guys with experience,” Sanders said. “They’re setting a good pace for the defense, setting a good pace for the team. They played like they should tonight other than they missed too many tackles.

OOLTEWAH — Dobyns-Bennett alum William Nottingham scored a runner-up finish at the 104th Tennessee Amateur Championship, which wrapped up Friday at The Honors Course.
Nottingham, a senior golfer at Clemson, shot a 2-under 286 for the four-round tournament. The two-time Tennessee Junior Amateur champion finished one stroke behind winner Nolan Ray of Brentwood after a final round 1-under 71.
Up by two shots at the start of the day, Ray extended his lead to five before holding off Nottingham, Tanner Owens of Milton and Luke Zieman of Nashville.
