Plan would link carbon offset buyers, timber owners

CORVALLIS — Older mid-Willamette Valley landowners selling timber from their forest lands to pay for health care could get an alternative soon.An Oregon conservation group has proposed a health initiative linking landowners with carbon offset buyers, getting money to the older owners for health care costs while more effectively managing their timber.

Steve and Ginger (Gault) Langenberg, of Bend and Green Valley, Ariz., celebrated their 50th anniversary with a gathering hosted by their children and her brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Pam Gault, on the beach at the Sheraton Maui in Hawaii.The couple were married June 1, 1963, in Corvallis. Claire Costa and Timothy Foley Jr., both of Bloomington, Ind., were married June 1 at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond, Va. A reception followed.The bride is the daughter of John and Denise Costa, of Bend. She is a 2006 graduate of Summit High School and a 2010 graduate of University of Richmond, where she studied political science and English.
