Eugene man arrested at motel

A Eugene man was arrested Tuesday evening at the Dunes Motel, Bend, on suspicion of promoting prostitution and rape, according to Bend Police.Antron Phillips, 31, was booked into the Deschutes County Jail after police responded to a reported dispute at the Dunes Motel on Third Street in Bend. Reports said that Phillips had been arguing with his girlfriend, Sheron Putney, 34, also of Eugene. During an investigation, police allege, they discovered that Phillips induced a 17-year-old girl to have sex with others for a fee.

Officer pursuit ends in arrest

Redmond Police pursued to Bend and arrested a Redmond man wanted on a probation violation Wednesday.Joey Lee Cox, 44, fled police, who spotted his gray Saturn Ion on U. S. Highway 97 near Veterans Way at about noon, according to Redmond Police Lt. Mike Kidwell.Police pursued Cox south on U. S. 97, reaching 65 mph, until he drove over a spike strip laid by Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies near Deschutes Junction, according to police.

 

Woman suspected of prostitution

A Portland woman was arrested in Bend on suspicion of prostitution Tuesday, according to Bend Police.Markita Roche, 21, was booked into the Deschutes County Jail after police said they discovered she had posted an escort ad on the website “Backpage" and engaged in sexual conduct for a fee. Police first responded to a suspicious circumstance report at the Marriott TownePlace Suites in Southwest Bend Sunday night. From there, the investigation led authorities to the Three Sisters Inn on N.E.

Bend-based Cascade Bancorp, parent company of Bank of the Cascades, will acquire Nampa, Idaho, based Home Federal Bancorp, parent company of Home Federal Bank, in a deal valued at $265.7 million, the banks announced today.

 

PacPower working to restore last 19 customers

The last 19 Pacific Power customers without power on Bend’s west side should be restored with a half hour, a spokeswoman for the utility said today.An unknown problem with an underground powerline left about 190 Pacific Power customers with flickering lights and on-again, off-again electrical power between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.

 

Summit 1031 sentencing delayed

Sentencing for Bend residents Mark Neuman and Lane Lyons, and Redmond resident Timothy Larkin, on charges in wire fraud and money laundering conspiracies has been rescheduled for Dec. 16, according to the U. S. Attorney’s Office.The co-owners of Bend-based Summit 1031 Exchange were scheduled to be sentenced today in U.S. District Court in Portland.
