Morning Jolt: Mandela memorial interpreter says he did no wrong

The sign language interpreter at the Nelson Mandela memorial service who was called a fake by the deaf community talked to CNN and said, "My portfolio shows that I have been a champion of what I have been doing." Thamsanqa Jantjie said he stands be his work and said, "I have never in my life had anything that said I have interpreted wrong. For the deaf association, if they think that I have done a wrong interpretation, I ask forgiveness." Last year Jantjie came under fire for his interpreting as well. 

 

 

Dec. 12 - Meet painter Sue Hoy, artist's reception

Come meet painter and art teacher Sue Hoy at an artist's reception on December 12, from 6-8 pm. in the Wotiz Gallery of the Milton Public Library, 476 Canton Avenue, Milton, MA 02186.  Her paintings are on exhibit throughout December in the Wotiz Gallery.  All are welcome and the reception is free.

Sue Hoy said, "As an artist, I am trying to capture the spirit of my subject by reducing details and concentrating on light and shape.  My paintings are rich in color and bold in brushwork.  I am inspired by nature's beauty and the chance to interpret it in simple, yet compelling ways."

 

Elderly Quincy man in hospital after kitchen fire

Firefighters say the Wednesday night blaze at 26-28 Arnold Road apparently started as a resident in his 80s was cooking. The duplex is almost a total loss.
