Governor Patrick accepts pay raise

Gov. Deval Patrick will head into his final year as governor collecting the full $151,800 salary available to him.
Patrick, who took office in 2007 on the brink of recession, has foregone some of the salary he could have taken.
On Sunday, his annual salary rate will increase from $139,832 to $151,800.

 

Bulger is moved to federal detention center in Brooklyn

Former Boston crime boss James “Whitey” Bulger has been transported to a federal detention center in Brooklyn, N.Y., according to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons website. The Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn houses both male and female inmates and is located on Gowanus Bay at 29th Street.

 

Quincy YMCA delays opening of new branch again

The opening date for the new Quincy YMCA has been pushed back to Dec. 23, meaning the branch won’t open on Monday, as previously scheduled.

Suspect in Dunkin' Donuts holdups held on $200,000 bail

Bail was set at $200,000 for a former Dunkin' Donuts employee charged in connection with armed holdups at two of the company's shops in Canton last summer. Prosecutors said 23-year-old Isaiah Murphy of Dedham is likely to face charges in connection with robberies at 15 to 20 more Dunkin' Donuts in eastern Massachusetts.

 

Morning Jolt: Jobless claims now at pre-recession levels

Jobless claims are now at pre-recession levels, the Labor Department said. Last week the number of people seeking unemployment dropped 10,000.
