Panel to discuss construction of Hanson school

A panel discussion on the construction of a new elementary school in Hanson will take place at 7 p.m. in the Hanson Middle School auditorium Tuesday, Jan. 14.

 

State Police still investigating Route 3 rollover

State Police on Thursday were still investigating what caused a rollover accident on Route 3 that sent one person to the hospital on Christmas Day.

 

Cardinal Cushing Centers receives Best Buddies award

Cardinal Cushing Centers received the 2013 Champion of Inclusion Award at Best Buddies’ annual “Evening of Opportunity” December event at Boston’s Seaport Hotel. The award represents the highest honor of the Best Buddies Job Program. It is given annually to a community partner that made an impact on the opportunities available to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The nonprofit, with centers in Hanover and Braintree, received the award in front of over 300 guests.

 

 

 

Friends offer annual New Year’s Day trip to Spectacle Island

On New Year’s Day, Friends of the Boston Harbor Islands will offer their annual trip to Spectacle Island. The boat leaves Rowes Wharf in Boston at noon Jan. 1, 2014.

           The first-ever “Downton Abbey Tea” fundraiser at the Milton Public Library sold out in less than three days.  It attests to the wild popularity of the TV series, which makes its fourth season debut on the night of January 5.  The tea, to be held earlier in the afternoon, will transform the library’s Keys Community Room into a Victorian parlor, with dainty sandwiches, desserts and tea. On exhibit will be equestrian art for sale of foxhunts, horses and hounds by Milton photographer Ruth Baltopoulos through January.
