Macomb officials decide not to restake township property

The Macomb Township Board of Trustees has yet to determine what sort of park will occupy property on 21 Mile Road behind Fire Station 2, but on July 11 officials chose not to restake the property against potential encroachments. On June 27, the board voted to table discussions of a potential dog park on the 21 Mile Road property until Aug.

Harry Potter birthday celebrated at local libraries

"Harry Potter" fans looking for magical ways to celebrate the fictional wizard's birthday will find a variety of options at local libraries. Roseville Public Library will host the teen event Harry Potter Escape Room Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Fans will work to break the innocent wizard out of Azkaban in the library's Erin Auditorium, and also make their own wands.

 

Lutheran North construction in demolition phase

As construction on Lutheran High School North moves through the demolition phase, Macomb Township recently approved a pathway abeyance for the school in connection with the improvements. The work involves the addition of 10 new classrooms, two floors, a new entryway, commons area, staircase and expanded cafeteria.

Two long-term tax proposals for police and fire service in Warren -- described as "absolutely vital" -- will be decided by residents during the Aug. 7 election.Voters in Macomb County's most-populated community face two millage questions: whether they want to continue paying 0.9788 mills for police protection and the same amount for fire and EMS service.
