Some who look around the Chesterfield Township Historical Village may see an 1800s schoolhouse or a 1939 log cabin. The Michigan Military Technical and Historical Society, however, saw a perfect setting for a reenactment of World War II's Operation Cobra. "We chose to use Operation Cobra as the focus for the event, because on our first visit to the site, the vegetation around the property and along the creek reminded us all of the bocage hedgerows in Normandy," said Joseph Coppens, who volunteers as a reenactor coordinator at the military society in Eastpointe.
