There is an army of veterans who are also artists. Those living in Macomb and Oakland counties are being invited to take part in the Detroit Institute of Arts Tour and Workshop for Veterans, happening Sept. 14 and 21. "We found out how many veteran artists there were when we decided to put on a show," said William Schranz of Harrison Township, an artist and United States Navy veteran who is corralling veterans from Macomb County to attend the event.

The Mound Road construction project from 14 Mile to 16 Mile roads continues Sunday with lanes closed at 17 and 18 Mile roads from early morning to the end of the day, according to the Macomb County Department of Roads. Through traffic on 17 and 18 Mile roads will not be permitted. Eastbound and westbound traffic on 17 and 18 Mile roads will be required to make a right hand turn on to Mound Road.
