Cruelty charges filed against man who sprayed dogs at Warren car wash

Animal cruelty charges were authorized Wednesday against a man accused of spraying his dogs at a self-service car wash in Warren, city officials said.The two-count warrant by the City Attorney's Office accuses the 49-year-old Detroit man with a misdemeanor for using a high-pressure wand at the Wash Stop Car Wash on Hoover Road, north of Nine Mile Road, on the two dogs.

As a longtime resident of Virginia, I am well aware of its sordid history when it comes to slavery, racism and discrimination. I can still remember "colored only" restrooms, water fountains, poll taxes and African Americans forced to ride in the back of the bus. Virginia public schools in the 1950s were mostly segregated, as they had been since first established in 1870.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that government workers can't be forced to contribute to labor unions that represent them in collective bargaining, dealing a serious financial blow to organized labor.The court's conservative majority scrapped a 41-year-old decision that had allowed states to require that public employees pay some fees to unions that represent them, even if the workers choose not to join.

Sterling Heights man ticketed in Rochester for alleged disorderly conduct, resisting officers

A Sterling Heights man was ticketed for alleged disorderly conduct and resisting officers after an incident in Rochester. According to Rochester police, the incident occurred at about 7 p.m. on June 23 in the 200 block of Main Street. An officer was advised that a man was intoxicated and asking people to purchase alcohol for him.
