Sales tax revenue in Gurnee remained down but the village finished the fiscal year in the black despite several obstacles. The village budgeted to end Fiscal Year 2018 with a $870,632 deficit but they finished with a small surplus of $289,185.

Urena, 20, of the 800 block of First Street in Ashton was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery and violation of an order of protection after authorities were called to the 700 block of Sumner Avenue near Aurora at 12:33 a.m. Monday for a report of a woman and a man fighting, according to a sheriff's report.
