ALBANY (AP) — The "Harlem Hellfighters" of World War I, the unit that included Albany war hero Sgt. Henry Johson, are being honored at the state Capitol complex.An exhibition dedicated to the soldiers of the African-American 369th Infantry Regiment is being staged in February in the Vietnam Memorial Gallery across the street from the Capitol.

 

Police: Saratoga Springs woman was high on heroin when car crashed

A city woman who was allegedly under the influence of heroin when her car collided head-on with another vehicle is facing multiple charges Monday under Leandra's Law.Wendy L. Cook, 47, was charged with felony aggravated DWI and misdemeanors operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal using drug paraphernalia and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, Saratoga Springs city police said.

Albany, Colonie to connect water systems, share back-up supply

James Taylor, wife donate $10K to Albany Med

James Taylor and his wife, Albany native Kim Hessberg Taylor, donated $10,000 to Albany Medical Center after a concert that was to benefit the hospital was canceled.Taylor and John Legend were to perform Friday at the Times Union Center's gala reopening to celebrate nearly $20 million in arena but the show was canceled over the weekend.Albany Med announced the donation Monday on its Twitter account.

 

Times Union Center ends 2017 in the black

AlbanyThe Times Union Center keep its three-decade long streak of black ink alive in 2017 with a $1.3 million operational profit, up 46 percent from the year before.More than 535,000 people attended 114 events at the arena last year, compared to about 480,000 people and 136 events in 2016, according to a news release Monday. Attendance rose even as the arena was in the midst of a major renovation.

 

Lawmakers offer their own plans to deal with SALT "missile"
