Greg Haws resigns from State Charter School Board

A member of Utah’s State Charter School Board has stepped down, citing time constraints and difficulty attending meetings.

Haws said he has missed board meetings because of the commute to Salt Lake City from St. George — where he resides for roughly half the year — and expected more absences due to an upcoming surgery.

The action follows a review released Monday by State Auditor John Dougall, who questioned whether Ott’s deputy had authority to make financial decisions for the office before the county Republican Party chooses a replacement who will serve until the 2018 election.

“It is also for someone who may have misplaced their ballot, or moved and didn’t get a ballot by mail.
