It's been a big few weeks for fast-food breakfast sandwiches. First Burger King added sausage-egg sandwiches and breakfast bowls to the menu (admitting they totally ripped off McDonald's) and last week, Subway launched a new line of five breakfast sandwiches.

McDonald's earnings rose 23% on stronger margins and same-store sales along with an increase in customer visits.

McDonald's will soon start offering free wireless Internet access at its U.S. restaurants as part of the fast-food chain's transformation from its hamburger roots into a hang-out destination.

"McDonald's is jumping on board. According to Crain's, "The fast-food giant will begin rolling out the long-awaited Angus burger nationally by August ... A company memo indicates McDonald's also plans to feature the new sandwich in its Monopoly promotion in October."

McDonald's reported a 7.1% increase in January sales at restaurants open at least a year, including a 5.4% rise in the U.S.
