American technology pioneer John McAfee said he faked a heart attack while detained in Guatemala to buy time for his attorney to file a series of appeals that ultimately prevented his deportation to Belize, hastening the government's decision to send him back to the United States.

As Agence France-Presse reports, a short entry on the website WhoIsMcAfee, set up by John McAfee himself states that he may have been captured. To wit: “We have received an unconfirmed report that John McAfee has been captured at the border of Belize and Mexico.” Interestingly, McAfee has enough content written for his blog for a full year, and has put up a reward regarding the finding of the individual that did kill the man in question; McAfee has maintained his innocence.

John McAfee, the antivirus software pioneer sought in connection with a murder in Belize, has apparently begun writing a blog that chronicles his efforts to hide from the police. The 67-year-old founder of the company that bears his name has been eluding the police for the past week, after the shooting death of his neighbor, whose body was discovered a week ago. Gregory Faull, a contractor and restaurant owner, had complained about McAfee's dogs as well as the technologist's armed security guards.
