Nancy Pelosi, the nation's first female House speaker, said Friday she will try to stay on as leader of the House Democrats despite huge election losses that cost her party the majority.

A Gallup survey shows 29% of those polled view the House speaker in a positive light, which compares with 27% for GOP rival John Boehner. But Boehner's negative rating is lower, 31% to Pelosi's 56%.
