Compensation for workers in the Washington region rose 2.1 percent in 2012 after remaining virtually flat the previous year, a new survey shows. The median salary increase was the largest the area has seen since 2010, according to data compiled by consulting firm Akron on behalf of the Human Resource Association of the National Capital Area, but still fell short of the region’s 3.2 rate of inflation in 2011.

The cost of health insurance continues to climb for U.S. companies and workers, with annual family premiums this year growing at a pace triple that of 2010 and outpacing wage increases, according to a survey.

We can't get no job satisfaction. Even Americans who are lucky enough to have work in this economy are becoming more unhappy with their jobs, according to a new survey that found only 45% of Americans are satisfied with their work.

That was the lowest level ever recorded by the Conference Board research group in more than 22 years of studying the issue. In 2008, 49% of those surveyed reported satisfaction with their jobs.
