Teens who send sexually explicit texts or photos are much more likely than those who don't to be sexually active, finds a survey of Los Angeles high school students.

Explicit “sexting” by kids may be far less prevalent than previously thought, and police intervention may also be less common according to two new reports published online today in the journal Pediatrics.

Authorities said Thursday that 22 students have admitted to using the school computers in February to view 30 to 40 images and three videos, many of which were sent by cellphone. The Milton Independent first reported the story Wednesday.
