Sacramento police are investigating a deadly home invasion robbery early Saturday in which one of the intruders was shot dead and three other people were wounded.

A Connecticut woman confronted an intruder, chased him out her her home and held him down until police arrived.

A 5-year-old girl was abducted from her Springfield house while she was sleeping early Saturday morning and assaulted outside the home before she returned, police said. Police were called to a townhouse in the 7000 block of Brocton Court shortly after 4 a.m. Detectives determined that an unknown man broke into the house sometime after midnight, went upstairs and took the girl from her bed. The victim’s parents and 1-year-old sibling were in the home at the time of the abduction, according to Fairfax County police spokesman Officer Don Gotthardt.

Oregon police say both an intruder and a Portland homeowner phoned 911 to report the same thing: a strange man in a home.

Three family members were killed in a home invasion in Darien, Ill., Tuesday morning, MyFoxChicago.com reported. Police arrived at the western Chicago suburb home to find two people dead on the first flooor.
