Charla's new face: Chimp-attack victim appears at public hearing

Charla Nash, the victim of a horrific attack by a 200-pound chimpanzee, appeared Friday at a Connecticut legal hearing, where officials are deciding whether she can sue the state for $150 million... Speaking clearly and looking remarkably recovered from the disfiguring attack and her 2011 face transplant, Nash spoke exclusively to NBC News about her recovery and her hopes for the future.

Senh: It's better no face, even though it still doesn't look quite right. Still, this is amazing. Good luck to her.

Chimp attack victim Charla Nash says she's venturing out more after receiving a face transplant six months ago. She told NBC's "Today" show that her donor face has begun molding to her bone structure - and has begun receiving compliments on her appearance.

Senh: It still doesn't look quite right, but it's way better than before. It's too bad they can't she can't regain her sight. It's reassuring that this will only get better and better. And John Woo's "Face/off" is no longer science fiction.

Doctors at a Boston hospital have performed a full face transplant on the Connecticut woman who was mauled by her friend's pet chimpanzee. Officials at Brigham and Women's Hospital say they performed the transplant on Charla Nash late last month. The surgery team under the leadership of Dr. Bohdan Pomahac (POE-ma-hawk) also performed a double hand transplant on Nash, but the hands failed to thrive and were removed.
