Google, Verizon Said to Have Deal on Web Traffic

Verizon Communications Inc. and Google Inc. reached a deal on how to handle Internet traffic, striking their own accord on policy being weighed by U.S. officials, two people briefed by the companies said today.

Senh: Why? This Google/Verizon deal sounds like it'll mirror AT&T's tiered pricing plan, which will definitely anger customers. I'm glad I'm still on T-Mobile and hoping that they will not join them in the tiered pricing plan.

'Jazzed' no more: Google nixing Wave

Google is pulling the plug on Google Wave. Google intended the messaging program, launched in 2009, to be a near-replacement for e-mail, which it said had grown tired. But on Wednesday, the company announced that it is shuttering the project by the end of the year because it didn't have traction with consumers.

Senh: Even people who has used Google Wave can't describe what is or what it does.

Google Crowned "King of Malware"

Google has been crowned the 'king of malware' by security company Barracuda Networks, linking to twice as much malware as search rivals Bing, Yahoo and Twitter combined.

Senh: This would explain some of viruses I've been getting every so often by clicking on a link from Google's search results page. But in fairness to Google, they are by far the biggest search engine on the planet, and people do perform more than twice as many searches on Google than Bing, Yahoo, and Twitter combined.

Yahoo Japan Confirms Google Switch from Yahoo

As BoomTown reported earlier today, Yahoo Japan confirmed it would switch its search technology and paid search provider to Google from Yahoo.

Senh: Can it still be called Yahoo Japan, when it's using Google? That's a strange move, especially since Yahoo! in the U.S. will eventually use Bing as their search engine.

Senh: Everyone copies from everyone. This time, Google copies Bing. Having a background image on a search engine started with Ask - at least when I first saw it being implemented. Although I have to say, design-wise, Bing and Ask looks more coordinated. Google's looks kinda tagged on.
