With the political world watching, Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney misspoke while introducing his running mate. Romney mistakenly introduced Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan on Saturday as the next president of the United States. Ryan, of course, has been tapped to serve as Romney's vice presidential nominee.

As Micah Sifry of TechPresident notes, tracking Wikipedia page edits in 2008 would have accurately predicted the VP selections: "Sarah Palin‘s Wikipedia page was updated at least 68 times the day before John McCain announced her selection, with another 54 changes made in the five previous days previous..."

 

Santorum, Rand Paul to speak at GOP confab

Florida governor Jeb Bush, Sen. Rand Paul and Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin were added to the growing list of convention speakers released by the Republican National Committee. Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator, is the first of Mitt Romney's former rivals for the 2012 Republican nomination to be announced as a speaker. Paul, a Kentucky senator, is a Tea Party favorite and the son of Rep. Ron Paul, who also ran for the White House.
