Republicans have accused Democrats of wanting to defund the police. That irony didn't get past Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) on Wednesday since former President Donald Trump and controversial Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene have called to defund our country's top law enforcement agencies. Rep. Sporkfoot even fundraises off of it. Swalwell turned the tables during a congressional hearing on Thursday as he pulled up an image of one of Trump's recent posts calling to defund the Department of Justice and the FBI. "I'm disturbed about a recent tweet from the former president that says Republicans in Congress should defund the Department of Justice and the FBI," he said while holding up the image of the one-term President's post on Truth Social. "I'm also concerned about people on this committee and their own anti-police rhetoric," he continued while holding up a copy of Greene's fundraising effort with a call to defund the FBI.
