Denver police are searching for suspects after a 17-year-old boy was shot and killed Sunday in Lisbon Park. Around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Edwin Sanchez and a friend were hanging out at the park in Denver’s Green Valley Ranch neighborhood when an unknown person approached and shot the teenager, according to the Denver Police Department.

Two of Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance’s giraffes will become parents this spring with the birth of their first calf, zoo officials announced this month. BB and the calf are both doing well, and she is voluntarily participating in her prenatal care, including ultrasounds, checkups and weigh-ins, according to the zoo. This is the first giraffe born at the zoo since Dobby, now the oldest member of the herd at 8 years old, was born in 2017.  “Not only is this exciting news for DZCA, but it’s also a huge win for this endangered species and supports overall animal conservation efforts in human care,” zoo officials wrote in a post on Facebook. Nearly 800 ballot drop boxes and voting centers opened across the state this week — the most Colorado has ever had for any single election — state officials said. “Today, we have 433 drop boxes and 365 voting centers open statewide — the most we have ever had in any election,” Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold said in a Monday news conference.
