STOW: The city has joined a growing number of communities actively trying to connect drug users to rehabilitation resources.Following in the footsteps of Cuyahoga Falls — which last month became the first city to adopt a technique advocated by the Summit County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board (ADM) — Stow has put together a “quick response team” to reach out to opiate addicts. The team will send a counselor, firefighter and police officer to visit people who have had an overdose “and try to get them the resources they need,” Police Chief Jeff Film said. The team will work retroactively with the subjects of overdose calls since November.Film said ADM has been encouraging all Summit County communities to follow suit.
