A 56-year-old man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of attempting to kidnap an 8-year-old girl from her bedroom in northeastern Colorado last week, police said. On the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 15, 56-year-old Thomas Gallegos broke into a Sterling home and attempted to kidnap an 8-year-old girl, according to a news release from the police department. The girl woke up and fought with the man, who fled before officers arrived, police said. Gallegos was arrested four days later on suspicion of first-degree burglary, second-degree assault, attempted second-degree kidnapping, third-degree assault and child abuse, police said in the release.
