A 66-year-old motorist was killed and an elderly passenger suffered critical injuries Wednesday in a three-car accident that closed a Sterling Heights intersection for about three hours, police said in a news release.Sgt. David Guerra said the incident occurred around 9 a.m. when the 66-year-old driver from Sterling Heights in a silver Dodge Intrepid disregarded a red light for westbound Metropolitan Parkway and was struck by a black Ford pick-up truck that was traveling north on Dequindre Road.
