AlbanyA state push to develop offshore wind farms in the Atlantic Ocean could create thousands of new jobs and help keep the lights on for more than 1.2 million people, according to a state road map issued Monday by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.By 2030, the governor wants the state to have ocean-based wind farms totaling 2.4 gigawatts — which could produce electricity equivalent to about five fossil fuel-burning power plants.
