While Beaumont ISD has said it is under pressure to make a decision about the future of Central High School, an exception to the state's extracurricular governing board's policies could give the district another year to make up its mind. Officials said at a meeting last month that they needed to decide the number of high schools and what their enrollment numbers would be for the next two years by the end of January to meet the deadline for placement in UIL classes, which are set to be announced in February for 2018-19 and 2019-20.
