TIPLER Daily Journal reports JACKSON – Ashland’s Deanthony Tipler couldn’t buy a 3-pointer in Wednesday’s MHSAA Class 1A State Tournament quarterfinal game against Durant. So, he did the next best thing. “I started going to the rim,” said the Blue Devils’ freshman guard. “I couldn’t get my 3s to fall.” Tipler, who was 1 of 6 on 3-pointers, scored a game-high 22 points to lead Durant to a 76-41 victory against Durant at Jackson State’s Athletics and Assembly Center. Ashland (22-8) advanced to a semifinal against Shaw on March 10 at noon. Durant took a 17-6 first-quarter lead and led 37-20 at halftime.
