In correspondence between the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation and the U.S. Department of Energy, the state has raised numerous issues and concerns regarding DOE's plans for a new nuclear landfill in Oak Ridge. TDEC is pushing DOE to consider other sites beyond the federal agency's preferred one, which is only 650 yards from the government's boundary.
