COLORADO SPRINGS — The finish of the Class 5A boys race at the CHSAA state championship meet Saturday morning epitomized the sport of cross country and what makes it as special as a crisp fall morning. The race wasn’t settled by the boys at the front of the pack, but by the fifth and sixth runners for Mountain Vista and Valor Christian in a desperate dash for glory. Nearly a minute after Chaparral sophomore Tanner Brown won the race in 15 minutes, 44.7 seconds, Mountain Vista seniors Luke Urban and Aaron Yocom battled to the finish with Valor sophomore Dane Eike, who was fifth on his team.
