Martin Weiss has never been bashful in his assessments of Florida’s troubled insurance market. The Palm Beach Gardens founder of Weiss Ratings has also been happy to sit down with insurance regulators, here and in other states, to lay out the basis of his critiques. After all, he said, everyone has the same goal of “an improvement in the experience of average policyholders.” Maybe not everyone. Weiss, who has been writing about finance since the 1970s, recently wrote that Florida homeowners are at a “high risk” of not being paid for their claims from hurricanes Helene and Milton.
