STAMFORD — An 83-year-old retired developer has lost his entire life savings — more than $400,000 that he kept in his home — in one of the largest scams of a resident in the city’s history, police said. The trio first began talking to the Stamford man about buying African diamonds because they needed money to get their families out of Sierra Leone, Stempien said.
