Stamford Fire Marshal Asks Residents To Take Precautions

STAMFORD-Stamford Fire Department is asking residents to take precautions against fires during the freezing weather over the next few days. Fire Marshal Charles Spaulding is encouraging residents to check their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in their homes to make sure they are working properly. He also said space heaters should be plugged directly into an electrical outlet not be left unattended and be given at least three feet of space in order that they don’t catch anything else on fire. Candles should not be used in place of flashlights and chimneys should regularly be cleaned and inspected.
