Ever since the Venom movie was announced, there's been speculation about whether it would be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and if Tom Holland's Spider-Man would appear in it. (Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures struck a deal in 2015 to share the screen rights to Spidey, allowing for the web-slinger to appear in Disney's MCU movies and for MCU actors to appear in Sony's Spider-Man solo films.) When it comes to Venom, though, Marvel Studios ultimately opted not to have Tom Holland's Spider-Man appear or be mentioned in it.
