NEW YORK — New data from MasterCard show consumers spent less on home products like furniture in May as the housing market continued to slump. But clothing and luxury items fared better. MasterCard Advisors’ SpendingPulse released data Wednesday showing furniture sales fell 3.2 percent in May. Home furnishings sales fell 1.4 percent, appliances sales fell 4.4 percent and electronics sales fell 3.6 percent. SpendingPulse data includes all forms of payment including cash. Read full article >>
