Sounds: Singer-pianist Patricia Barber Celebrates A New Album At Scullers

Pianist-vocalist Patricia Barber, who will be fronting her trio at a CD release show for her new album “Higher” at Scullers on March 15, had to make a few musical decisions when she was growing up in the suburbs of Chicago in the 1960s. Her parents made sure that their home was filled with music: Her saxophonist dad, Floyd, had his own jazz band, and played with Glenn Miller.
