It appears that some phone companies didn't get the memo that the 838 era has started.For the past month now, people in the Capital Region have been told that they must use 10-digit dialing to make local calls as part of new protocols related to the addition of the new 838 area code.But as of Tuesday, people were able to make local calls using just 7 digits - without the 518 or new 838 area code added.
