NORTH CANTON: Even as the sun came up Thursday morning, Superintendent Michael Hartenstein and Police Chief Stephan Wilder were still working through a string of social media happenings to determine whether an anonymous threat to “shoot up” the middle school would come true. And, if it did, were they ready? So, they boosted the police presence, reviewed the many safety precautions taken in the past three years and kept school open.Nothing happened. The gun threat, not necessarily directed at any particular student, came during a week when North Canton students were to begin state testing.
