Snow Causing Very Slick Road Conditions

By 9:30 a..m., the precipitiation had turned to sleet and freezing rain along the shoreline. While there have been caused no major accidents, there were dozens of spinouts and fender benders across southwest Connecticut. Northbound Route 8 in Shelton was partially closed around 9 a.m. after several cars were unable to move through the heavy snow and slick roads. State Police closed two lanes to keep oncoming traffic away from the stuck vehicles. I-95 along the shoreline is just wet and clear, but entrances and exits remain snow-covered and very slippery. Troopers say I-84 in the Hartford area remains especially slick with numerous spinouts include tractor-trailer trucks. Metro-North reports trains are running on or close to schedule, but it advises people to allow for additional travel time.
