Several Dogs Seized From Southern Colorado Home Tuesday Now Up For Adoption

Some of the 37 neglected dogs seized from a Penrose home Tuesday are available for adoption through the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, the animal shelter said in a news release. The shelter took in 15 Australian cattle dogs between 7 weeks old to 3 years old following Tuesday's arrest of Demaris "Dee" Chess, who is accused of 37 counts of animal cruelty, authorities said. The dogs were found to be thin, malnourished and dehydrated, the Fremont County Sheriff's Office said. The dogs underwent a round of assessment since the animal-seizing operation, said Gretchen Pressley, a Humane Society spokesperson, in the news release. Read more on Colorado Springs Gazette
