After topping the weekend box office, The Town played well throughout the week to maintain a commanding lead. In second place, Easy A also had a strong debut for its genre, while Devil was middling and Alpha and Omega was soft. Overall business was comparable to the same week last year, when Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs debuted to $35.4 million.The Town earned $33.1 million for the week, which compared favorably to the more star-studded The Departed's $38 million start in 2006.
