“Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, attempting to put political pressure on Republicans, announced Sunday that the chamber will vote this week on a long-negotiated bipartisan border bill that Republicans blocked earlier this year,” CNN reports.
International far-right leaders, including France’s Marine Le Pen, Hungary’s Viktor Orbán, Italy’s Giorgia Meloni and Argentina’s Javier Milei, came together in Madrid to rail against socialism and “massive illegal migration” three weeks before hard-right parties are expected to see a surge in support in June’s European elections, The Guardian reports.
“Robert F. Kennedy Jr. lists his residence to vote as a tony Westchester County address — which is in foreclosure proceedings for non-payment, court records show,” the New York Post reports.
“The independent candidate claims his voting address is 84 Croton Lake Road In Katonah, though he is not the owner of the million-dollar property-in-arrears, does not show up in resident searches for it, and some longtime neighbors — and even local authorities — were shocked at the notion it’s his home.”
Sen. J. D. Vance (R-OH), rumored to be one of Donald Trump’s vice-presidential contenders, told CBS News that the U. S “could learn from” some decisions made by authoritarian Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, including controversial policies related to dealing with dissidents at universities.
Said Vance: “On the university principle, the idea that taxpayers should have some influence in how their money is spent at these universities, it’s a totally reasonable thing, and I do think that he’s made some smart decisions there that we could learn from in the United States.”
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) brushed off the recent polls showing President Biden’s slight lead over former President Trump in his home state of Wisconsin, noting he does not trust early polling, The Hill reports.
Said Johnson: “Well, as somebody who has run statewide three times and seeing polls wildly incorrect, all three times, I just would not trust the early polls.
