Seaplane Sinks After Landing On Candlewood Lake In Sherman

SHERMAN — Authorities are reporting that a seaplane has gone down in Candlewood Lake near Chicken Rock. The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said it doesn’t appear the plane crashed, but began taking on water once it landed near the New Fairfield, Sherman border around 4 p.m. The passengers on the plane were able to get off with the help of a good Samaritan’s boat and it appears there were no injuries, said Dennis Schain, a spokesman for DEEP. State troopers are helping Department of Energy and Environmental Protection officers after the plane had a “rough landing.
