Scripter Awards Honors 'slumdog'

Web Exclusive: 'Millionaire' continues awards sweep -- "Slumdog Millionaire" continued its awards sweep Friday night at the 21st annual USC Libraries Scripter Awards after walking away with the org's top prize. In a show of appreciation for the event's unique nature of recognizing both screenwriter and author of an adapted work, "Slumdog" scribe Simon Beaufoy said, "We don't really have anything like this in Great Britain." A first-ever for the award, the night's winner was announced during the gala. "It's an extraordinary honor to be here tonight," Beaufoy said, "partly because I've been in love with Jamie Lee Curtis for many, many years." Curtis, emcee for the gala held at USC's Edward L.
