Stories Related to Savannah Lawyers' Legal Food Frenzy To Avert Kids' Hunger To Kick Off Thursday

Georgia Attorney Sam Olens and Chatham County District Attorney/Honorary Chair, Meg Heap again this year will join in the kickoff at 6 p.m. on Thursday for the “Georgia Legal Food Frenzy,” a statewide food and fund drive competition among Georgia lawyers. The event at America’s Second Harvest Food Bank, will join their efforts with the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia and the Georgia Food Bank Association to launch the effort for to raise food and funds for Georgia’s eight regional food banks, which work with more than 2,600 partner agencies and pantries to distribute more than 130 million pounds of food annually to all 159 counties in Georgia. In Coastal Georgia, more than 158,000 people are at-risk for hunger and more than 93,000 children are eligible for school subsidized lunches.
