A Placer County sheriff's lieutenant accused of firing a gun into the air outside his Rocklin home is scheduled to begin trial in October, authorities say. Lt. John David Savage is charged with a misdemeanor count of negligently discharging a firearm. His trial date is Oct. 25, the Placer County District Attorney's Office says.
